The Rrom Project

in

The exhibitions of Norwegian photographer Harald Medbøe are made by a collection of pictures of Roma photographed during five journeys in Romania between 2001 and 2006.

The Rrom project is designed to spread information about Roma culture, history, traditions, etc. Through photo exhibitions based on the pictures from the book: Rrom - sigøynerreiser we invite the public to get more information and understanding of the Roma. The exhibitions are planned to open in different places in Poland and Romania during 2009 and 2010.

Two versions of the exhibition will be presented. One version for indoors display and one for outdoor shows.

For gallery and indoor exhibitions up to 50 pictures 50 x 70 cm or 70 x 100 cm will be presented framed. In addition written material about Roma culture, history, traditions, etc, is to be handed out.

For outdoor exhibitions 5 or 4 gypsy tents made out of the pictures on all weather material. One of the tents can describe the Holocaust, another the wagons and the journey from India, another the work of the Roma, etc. In addition to the tents there will be a series of banners 2 x 3m printed on all weather material. These can be used for concerts, in parks, etc. Also in this version the written material will be handed out.

The written material: The text about Roma culture, history, Holocaust, tradition, etc, must be worked out in cooperation between different Roma organizations. Todor Lakatos in Somcutamare in Romania is the coordinator for this work.
